The ballast tariff will be applied to the LNG vessels transporting up to a maximum of 10 percent (10%) of the total cubic meter (m3) of LNG cargo capacity of the spaces designed and certified for such use.

Booking fee (OPTIONAL)

  • $ 35,000

The operators that use the same LNG vessel for a voyage to and return from a specific destination through the Panama Canal, will pay the laden tariff for the laden portion of the trip, and would be eligible for the roundtrip ballast fee if the return transit in ballast is made within 60 days after the laden transit.

Booking fee (OPTIONAL)

  • $ 35,000

Restrictions

Beginning October 1, 2018, certain navigation restrictions currently imposed on LNG vessels will be lifted. Specifically, meetings between opposing LNG vessels in Gatun Lake will be allowed, as well as transiting during hours of darkness in certain areas of the Canal.

The maximum number of “daylight-restricted” booking slots remains at one per direction, and the maximum number of slots that may be allocated to LNG vessels will be two (2) per day, either two in the northbound direction, or one northbound and one southbound.

The maximum number of “daylight-restricted” slots combined with slots awarded to LNG vessels per direction is as follows:

  1. Two northbound LNG vessels and one daylight-restricted vessel (either northbound or southbound);
  2. One northbound LNG vessel, one southbound LNG vessel, and one “daylight-restricted” vessel (either northbound or southbound);
  3. One daylight-restricted northbound vessel, one daylight southbound vessel, and one LNG vessel (either northbound or southbound).

**Additional transit expenses: Towage, Line handlers, Locomotive wires (Panamax locks only), Security fee, PCSOPEP, and Transit Vessels Inspection.
